Healing and Justice Center ("HJC," "we," "our," or "us") respects the privacy of the people and communities we serve. This Privacy Policy explains how we may collect, use, store, and share personal information when you interact with HJC through our website, program registration forms, outreach activities, events, email, or text messaging services.
This policy is intended to cover HJC's general communications and SMS/text messaging practices. By providing personal information to HJC, you acknowledge the practices described below.

Depending on how you interact with HJC, we may collect information such as:

HJC does not ask participants to send highly sensitive financial, medical, or legal information through ordinary SMS/text messaging. If you receive an HJC text, please avoid sending sensitive information by text unless HJC has specifically provided a secure method for doing so.

HJC may use personal information to:
• Respond to inquiries and provide requested information;
• Register participants for programs, classes, workshops, events, or services;
• Send reminders, scheduling updates, registration links, follow-up messages, and program information;
• Communicate about HJC programs, events, resources, and community opportunities;

4. SMS/Text Messaging Privacy
If you opt in to receive text messages from HJC, we may use your mobile number to send messages related to programs, classes, events, registration, reminders, outreach, follow-up, and other HJC communications.
HJC does not sell or rent mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in information. Mobile phone numbers, SMS opt-in data, consent records, and text messaging information will not be sold, shared, or disclosed to third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes.
HJC may share this information with service providers, including telecommunications carriers, text messaging platforms, or technical service providers, only as reasonably necessary to operate HJC's SMS/text messaging program.

5. When We May Share Information
HJC does not sell personal information. We may share personal information only when reasonably necessary, including:
• With service providers that perform services on HJC's behalf and are expected to protect the information they receive;
• With funders, partners, or contracting entities when required for program administration or reporting, using aggregated or de-identified information whenever appropriate;
• When you direct or authorize HJC to share information;

HJC will seek to limit disclosure to the information reasonably necessary for the purpose involved.
6. Data Storage, Security, and Retention
HJC uses reasonable administrative and technical practices designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No electronic storage or communications system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
HJC retains information only for as long as reasonably necessary for organizational, programmatic, contractual, grant, legal, or recordkeeping purposes. Retention practices may vary depending on the type of record and applicable requirements.
7. Your Choices
You may ask HJC to update your contact information or communication preferences. You may unsubscribe from text messages by replying STOP and may unsubscribe from email communications using the unsubscribe method provided in the email, where available.
Opting out of promotional or reminder messages does not prevent HJC from contacting you when reasonably necessary regarding a transaction, program registration, safety issue, or other communication you specifically requested, where permitted by law.
8. Children's Information
HJC works with families and communities, but our general website and SMS communication services are not intended to knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without appropriate parent or guardian involvement. If HJC learns that information was collected inappropriately, we will take reasonable steps to address it.
9. Updates to This Privacy Policy
HJC may update this Privacy Policy as our programs, technology, legal obligations, or communication practices change. The current version will be identified by its effective date.
