SMS Terms and Conditions
Effective Date: August 24, 2026
1. About These Terms
These Terms and Conditions govern participation in Healing and Justice Center's ("HJC," "we," "our," or "us") SMS/text messaging program. By opting in to receive HJC text messages, you agree to these Terms and Conditions.
2. Program Description
HJC uses text messaging to communicate with community members, program participants, families, partners, and other individuals who have requested or agreed to receive HJC communications.
Messages may include, for example:
• Program and class announcements;
• Registration links and enrollment information;
• Class, workshop, event, or appointment reminders;
• Schedule or location changes;
• Follow-up information and resources;
• Outreach messages about HJC programs and opportunities; and
• Other communications related to HJC's mission, services, and community activities.
3. Opt-In and Consent
You may opt in to HJC text messages through a registration form, website form, written consent, keyword sign-up, direct request, or another method made available by HJC.
By opting in, you authorize HJC and its text messaging service providers to send SMS or MMS messages to the mobile number you provided. Messages may be sent using automated technology where permitted by law.
If HJC offers marketing or promotional text messages, consent to receive those messages will be requested separately from consent to receive customer care or transactional messages. Individuals may choose which categories of SMS communications they wish to receive.
You are responsible for providing a mobile number that you are authorized to use and for notifying HJC if that number changes.
4. Message Frequency
Message frequency varies depending on your relationship with HJC, the program or event involved, and the communications you have requested. Some periods may include multiple reminders or updates, while other periods may include few or no messages.
5. Message and Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply according to your mobile carrier and service plan. HJC does not charge a separate fee for receiving HJC text messages, but your carrier's standard messaging, data, or other charges may apply.
6. How to Opt Out
You may stop receiving HJC text messages at any time by replying STOP to a message from HJC.
After you opt out, you may receive a final confirmation message. You may later opt in again through an available HJC sign-up method.
7. Help and Support
For assistance, reply HELP to an HJC text message or contact HJC at info@healingandjusticecenter.org.
8. Delivery and Carrier Availability
Text message delivery is subject to mobile carrier networks and technology outside HJC's control. HJC cannot guarantee that every message will be delivered or delivered at a particular time. Mobile carriers are not responsible for delayed or undelivered messages. Availability may vary by carrier, device, location, or service plan.
9. Privacy
HJC's collection and use of personal information related to text messaging is governed by the HJC Privacy Policy. HJC does not sell or rent mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in information and does not share mobile opt-in data or consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes. Information may be shared with service providers only as reasonably necessary to operate HJC's messaging services or as otherwise described in the HJC Privacy Policy.
10. Appropriate Use
HJC text messaging is intended for ordinary organizational and program communications. Please do not use text messaging to send confidential financial information, highly sensitive personal information, emergency requests, or information requiring immediate crisis response. If you are experiencing an emergency, contact the appropriate emergency service rather than relying on HJC text messaging.
11. Changes to the Messaging Program or These Terms
HJC may modify, suspend, or discontinue its text messaging program or update these Terms and Conditions as organizational, technological, legal, or program needs change. Updated terms will be identified by their effective date.
